Gilt-Bronze Objects

A short exhibition timed to coincide with the opening of the acclaimed ‘Pierre Gouthière: Virtuoso Gilder at the French Court’ organised by our distinguished colleagues at the Frick Collection. The exhibition presented a broader selection of museum quality Louis XVI gilt-bronze artworks.

Alongside works by Pierre Gouthière himself — including a pair of gilt-bronze wall sconces adorned with ‘mérottes’ — this unique display showcased the mastery of artists such as François Reymond, Pierre Thomire and other great bronziers of the time.
